Sunday Chill-out is an event for students, by students and it's more than just a vibe - it's a well put together event with so much potential. For those who don't know, Sunday Chill-out is an event that happens in Auckland park, it's organised by a group of friends who aren't only trying to have a good time, but also trying to make an impact by providing a chilled place for students to take a breathe before the new week starts.
The fourth installment/ birthday edition was all I expected it to be and more! As relaxed as the event is, I love that they thought of it all, when speaking to Mpumi, final year PR student and the lady behind their social media accounts, I learned that in the process of it all they also using their qualifications to make it happen, they even have a law student on their team who not only makes sure they are clear from the legal stuff, but who also keeps the throats happy with amazing punch mix (which, I must say, was amazing).
The event is not just a last minute rush thing and it shows - the set up, the drinks stand, the dj line up, and the YouTube vloggers (The boyzzz SA) who were also there to get content.. I was (am) impressed! Check out their vlog that dropped yesterday:
I got to speak to some of the people in the team and the common phrases I caught were all in the lines of 'growth' 'fun' and 'bringing people together' and I really see it.
When I caught a word with Abuti Chill-out himself, Sihle speaks of the event as his baby which, judging by what he said and what I have seen, is going to go beyond just the perimeters of the student accomodation where it's currently held, and with people asking for the event to happen every other weekend (way before it even ended), I have to agree. The execution is as clean as the vision and it's been beautiful to watch and be a part of.
