The streets of the East Rand have been a total mess since the lockdown regulations were eased and it’s all thanks to labafana be Deadly Combo! The events and entertainment industries took the hardest knock earlier this year due to the Corona virus and the regulations that came with it but as soon as everything eased and groove was brought back, Mtaito's Lifestyle has been the place to be!
Deadly Combo is the events duo (Scoop and Tevin) from the East of Johannesburg. Scoop is well known for his clothing brand Rabbit Gang and Tevin for the crazy events at Mtaito’s Lifestyle (an established pub in Kwa Thema, Springs, East of Johannesburg)
Rabbit Gang is one of the biggest local brands to hit the streets of South Africa! It was started in 2017 by Scoop. The rabbit and the carrot logo has grown to be a symbol of realising your dreams and sticking it through until those dreams become a reality! The brand has also gotten recognition from big names within the entertainment industry; the likes of DBN GOGO, Focalistic, Major League DJz, DJ Maphorisa, Kabza De Small, Shaun 101 and a whole lot more!
Rabbit Gang has been widely accepted, appreciated and loved throughout all the streets in Mzansi and has also been spotted in a few TV inserts and music video sets including that of MFR Souls’ ‘Amanikiniki' and Reece Madlisa and Zuma’s ‘Jazzidisciples (Zlele)’!

Mtaito’s Lifestyle on the other hand has also been buzzing every single weekend for the past 8 WEEKS! Mtaito’s has become the most frequented place for Sunday groove with their ‘Superstvr Sundays' events where they have brought some of the biggest names in the South African music industry! The venue has hosted a number of EP and Album launches including that of DBN GOGO, Kelvin Momo, TallarseTee and a few others. The venue has also hosted Major League DJz, on what they called ‘Major League Friday' which was one of the events with the most notable turnout! New Money Gang have also headlined numerous events at Mtaito’s including ‘New Momey Gang Friday' which had Daliwonga, Bontle Smith, DJ Maphorisa, Kabza De Small on stage!
They recently switched it up when they brought the likes of Riky Ricky, Costa Titch, Lucas Raps, Uncle Vinny, etc on not just one weekend, but 2 CONSECUTIVE WEEKENDS! Which, despite the weather and other factors turned out to be another epic event where Riky Rick even shared a bottle of XO Cognac with the crowd!
As much as Tevin is passionate about events, he is also passionate about shining the light on the females in the industry, hence he started an event called ‘Ladies Love Fridays' which serves as a platform to empower female creatives in the entertainment industry. Ladies Love Fridays was brought to life in August 2019 and it’s an event hosted about once a month at Mtaito’s Lifestyle. The last one, ‘EAST RAND GOGO', was on the 25th of September, a star-studded event to show DBN GOGO appreciation from the East Rand. The line-up included the likes of Boity, Ayanda MVP, Moonchild Sanelly & Sandy MDR and more. The line-up also included east rand local DJs Khumo and Gugu The DJ!
Planning and executing all of these success takes a lot of hard work, dedication and sleepless nights and Deadly Combo makes it look effortless!
