Cancelwear has been around the block for almost 5 years now. It was founded by Karabo Phakathi and Senzo Nkabinde in 2015 and it has since been one of the streetwear brands to look out for. I love an event that’s planned down to the tee and I think Cancelwear’s premium wear launch event was the sickest to ever do it!

The premium wear launch took place in Daveyton, as an event to support the launch of the brand’s new premium wear line. There was were stands for drinks, hubbly and food, as well as the streetwear's merch on display for those who wanted to touch, feel and buy. They also had DJ Lowkey Coolkid on the decks, who kept everyone on their feet and they also a sick branded backdrop on display where everyone could take their photos and have memories of the night.

Cancelwear isn’t just a streetwear brand with a name and a logo but it has everyone speaking their language, you could tell by how most people were dressed up in their Cancelwear merch and for me the dopest part about it was that it was like a live timeline where you could see all different designs from their past seasonal drops – from the 2017 baseball tops to the sweatpants from winter 2019, it was a great vibe seeing the people not only supporting the event in their numbers, but also supporting the dream.

Although there was no entry charge to the event, Cancelwear encouraged everyone to donate sanitary pads which they would later donate to those in need. The donation box was overflowing which made the event more special because it means although everyone was there to support the brand and have a good time, they also saw the importance in the sanitary pad drive. Judging by all the marketing that went into their new line (from the photoshoot, to the promo video) it's easy to see that Karabo and Senzo value their vision and want to leave their mark in the streetwear industry while doing what they love.

The Co-founders of Cancelwear also dived into the whole vision and their future plans in their recent interview on New Moon Digital where they shared that one of their future plans would be to collaborate with the local brand Bathu. When asked what their greatest achievement was Senzo answered that it is how wide their reach is, while Karabo said it’s when he was at the mall and a young girl walked past him and recognized the brand because her sister owns a Cancelwear cap.
