Bulie Nazo - A Multifaceted Business Woman

This women’s month I start off by celebrating a woman who has been influential on my career. Entering the media space was obviously a bit of a struggle for me, because of my introverted nature, but I had no trouble growing into the person I am today because this lady made it easy and a whole lot of fun. She goes by the name Bulie Nazo and PR is her game.

Bulie Nazo is the managing director for a PR company – Stamp Communications. She started working at Electromode (now Electromode Ingrooves) as a junior digital marketer and through her dedication and love for what she does she earned promotions which eventually landed a senior position at Stamp Communications – a division of Electromode. Bulie has always had big plans for herself which set the wheels in motion for Chris Ghelakis to propose that she take over the company as the majority shareholder. She went from working for Stamp communications to actually owning it. Not to mention that she is also co-owner of an alcoholic beverage - Amasiko. Now that’s what I call BOSS MOVES!

Stamp Communications deals with public relations, TV and radio plugging and brand strategy. They have worked with the likes of Okmalumkoolkat, Micasa, Babes Wodumo and they were also part of the team that was managing Drake’s visit when he was in South Africa. Stamp Communications reached another milestone in the last year– being the resellers of Play MPE in South Africa. Play MPE is a radio submission tool that has made submitting your music to radio 10 x easier!

When asked what is means to be a woman in the media industry, Bulie replied "To be a woman in the media industry means you have to constantly fight male privelege. Whether it be men thinking they can make you their "stocko" or men 2nd guessing your decisions because you're a woman. I learnt very early in my career to always back myself in all I do and not let the noise distract me from what my ultimate goal has always been: Being the best version of myself in every aspect of my job, big or small. That has gone a long way in making me the woman I am today."

Bulie is a proud Xhosa woman from East London, her number 1 pass time is singing her favourite tunes, she is a mother to a future rugby star and amidst all the stress that comes with her work she never forgets to laugh out loud! She reminds me to always have fun even during the stressful times, inspires me to work towards my goals and sometimes she uses words that I have to Google.
